When I arrived at my hotel I thought it was very much like New York. The streets were filled with people, bikes, and cars ready to hit you at any given moment. The driver’s side is on the right and they drive on the opposite side of the road. A lot of the roads are narrow so cars will drive a little on the curb to pass a parked car without shame. It’s very congested and takes almost an hour to go less than 6 miles in a car. We took the subway (tube) mostly. It’s faster and cheaper than an Uber. Our dollar is trash so things are more expensive but it evens out because you don’t tip.
London isn’t known for delicious food (I don’t know why I even agreed to come here) but the cocktails were amazing. I combed the earth to find food up to my standards. Said findings are below.
Shrimp dumplings from Floratica
Vegan pate from Brixton Market
Jerk chicken + cod fritters from Fish Wings and Tings
Duck and waffle with duck egg fried over medium from Duck + Waffle
I treated this trip like all of my travels; make a plan but leave room for wandering. It’s why I love to travel. Getting “lost” in an place unfamiliar makes my soul smile. Everything is a vibe. There are lots of hanging flowers on the streets and at most restaurants.
It’s funny hearing people say “I love your accent where are you from”. I never think about it but really anybody with a different dialect from you has an accent. Americans have accents.
Spent the first half of the trip with my friend Steph, her sister, and her sister’s hubby. We travel a lot together because I don’t do weird girl energy on vacation. We love each other but most importantly we like each other for real.
We walked around a lot, ate, and shopped. Zara makes you do self-checkout. You gotta take the censor off yaself too. Zara, if you want me to work here just say that!
The second half of my trip was spent with my friends Alana and Ashley. Please note I DO NOT PLAY about Baby Bear. Everyone knows we all can get booked and processed over her. I digress.
Baby Bear, Ashley, and I roamed London like it was nobody’s business. We did a city tour. Yes, we are those types of travelers and the shame just isn’t there.
Ashley and I thought it would be fun to walk to this vegan dessert shop until we realized how far it was. We definitely Ubered back cuz No! We walked. We laughed. We ate.
We visited Hampton Court Palace and I fell in love with almost everything I laid my eyes on. It’s where they filmed Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte so it was an immediate yes for me.
Baby Bear had us at the London Dungeon and some other places. I pretty much do everything she wants to do always! I could write a whole lot more but I honestly can’t remember everything. Just know a time was had.
That’s all mate!
